Santa Clara Broncos

The Santa Clara Broncos began playing football in 1896. There was no team from 1908 to 1918. They picked the Bronco name in 1923. In 1992, they dropped football, which they were playing at the DII level, while other sports played at DI. The NCAA required them to move to DI football, which became unaffordable, and the program was canceled. They played in three major bowl games and won all three.
