CSU EAST BAY PIONEERS

California State University East Bay Peregrine Falcons

CSU East Bay started playing football in 1965, mostly going against other Californian teams. The program had its ups and downs and was canceled after the 1993 season. They were once known as the CSU Hayward Pioneers, originally related to the New Frontier of Space but evolving into a Western Pioneer Pete. This mascot was associated with the genocide of Native Americans, and just like the Long Beach 49ers, the name was changed to the Peregrine Falcons. The program was canceled due to budget issues and Title IX considerations.
